Denmark Travel Guide

  • Home of happiness and hygge

Denmark is one of the happiest countries on Earth, and it’s no surprise. It’s home of the Danish pastry, LEGO® and the mythical but slightly ambiguous hygge (pronounced “hoo-gah”), which, in a nutshell, means enjoying the good things in life with good people.

So go ahead and hunt for hygge in the cobblestone streets of Copenhagen, in the chalk cliffs of Mons Klint and in its cozy waterfront cafés. You’re sure to find it.

Discover Denmark

  • Copenhagen

Copenhagen is cool, curious and colourful. You can feel it in the wild rides of its Tivoli Gardens amusement park. You can see it in the multicoloured houses along its Nyhavn canal—hop on a boat here to see the iconic sculpture of The Little Mermaid, inspired by a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale. You can hear it at its state-of-the-art Copenhagen Opera House. And you can taste it in its food—don’t leave without trying its classic smorrebrod open-faced sandwich.

  • LEGO® House

Brace your kids: they’re about to enter a playground filled with 25 million LEGO bricks. At LEGO House in Billund, they can construct fast cars, write and direct their own LEGO stop-motion movie, and build their own fish and watch it come to life in the digital fish tank.

If they can imagine it, they can build it.

  • Nature

Denmark’s natural beauty cries out to be explored. Take a stroll through time at Mols Bjerge National Park, shaped by ice and water over millions of years, inhabited by forests, moors, grasslands, lakes and sea. Wander through the Rabjerg Mile, a 40-metre-high sand dune that forms a small desert and migrates 15 metres northeast every year. Hunt for fossils from past wildlife beneath the chalk cliffs of Mons Klint. And while away long Copenhagen summer days at Amager Beach Park.
