Cuba Travel Guide

  • Vacations to Cuba: easy, breezy flights and sunny trips to the beach

Historic architecture, a rich culture, intoxicating rhythms and miles of sandy beaches—with affordable flights to boot—Cuba has it all.

Discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492, the island is the largest in the Caribbean and boasts almost 6,000 km of coastline. Located at the mouth of the Gulf of Mexico, Cuba enjoys balmy sub-tropical breezes and warm, crystalline waters.

Discover Cuba

  • Havana, the capital

While it might be a historic city brimming with Old World charm, Havana Will open in a separate browser window bustles with plenty of big-city energy. Located just a few hours' drive from Varadero, Havana makes an ideal day trip. Stop by La Bodeguita del medio to try a mojito, like the ones Ernest Hemingway used to drink. Tourists should make sure to spend the evening strolling along the Malecón—an 8 km esplanade and seawall located along the Havana Harbor.

  • Dolphins and diving

While lounging for hours on one of the idyllic beaches in Varadero Will open in a separate browser window or Cayo Coco Will open in a separate browser window makes for a relaxing vacation, exploring what lives below those turquoise waters is a worthwhile adventure. Taking a cruise out to the coral reefs near Camaguey Will open in a separate browser window and swimming with dolphins in Holguin Will open in a separate browser window are both unique experiences that should be on everyone, to-do list.
  • Cuban cuisine and flavours

A trip to Cuba wouldn’t be complete without trying out some of the excellent Cuban restaurants. Cuban cuisine is a blend of TainoSpanishAfrican and Caribbean cuisine, and is mainly composed of pork, rice, beans and spices. Try the typical ropa vieja with rice or even yuca frita. Also part of the Cuban heritage are its famous hand-rolled cigars. A visit to one of the factories will show you the detail with which each cigar is made. And last, but not least, why not bring back a bottle of some local rum? It’s some of the best in the Caribbean!
