    Costa Rica’s official currency is the Costa Rican Colón (CRC), but American dollars are accepted, especially in hotels. Credit cards are also often accepted.

    Official Language

    Spanish is the country’s official language and is spoken by the majority, but certain Amerindian languages are also spoken. In tourist areas, you can get around speaking English.

    Things to remember

    Remember to pack sunblock and insect repellent.

  • Entry/exit requirements

    Costa Rica has an airport departure tax that is not included when purchasing an Air Transat flight ticket. This US $29 tax must be paid locally, per person (babies included), before leaving the country, by cash (american dollars or Colon), or Visa. MasterCard are not accepted.
