Top reasons to purchase insurance with Transat

Applies to Canada only.

  1. You have to cancel your trip because of illness or accident. No need to worry, you are covered by our cancellation insurance.
  2. While travelling, you have become sick or have been involved in an accident. We are there to help you get the assistance you need and to cover the costs.
  3. In case of illness or accident, you will not have to pay anything at destination. Many insurance plans require that you pay the amount up front. With Transat Travel Insurance, you travel worry-free.
  4. If your baggage is lost or delayed, you will be covered up to CA $1,500 (or foreign currency equivalent) for lost luggage, and up to CA $500 (or foreign currency equivalent) for luggage delayed for more than 10 hours.
  5. If you have to return home earlier than planned, our “travel interruption” clause takes care of the costs.
  6. Should your trip cancellation fall under one of our basic exclusions, you could use our Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) benefit which allows you to claim up to 80% of the unused non-refundable pre-paid portion of your trip.
    • Cancel 7 days or more prior to departure and receive up to 80%
    • Cancel 6 days to 24 hours prior to departure and receive up to 80% (up to $2,500)
  7. In case of a Canadian government-issued travel advisory warning against travel to your destination, we will refund the non-refundable portion of your booking.
  8. If you need travel advice, restaurant suggestions or business services, our Concierge Club Plan can help you.
  9. If you missed your flight or your connector due to weather conditions, an earthquake, volcano eruption, mechanical problems or a flight schedule change, we will reimburse the cost of a new flight.
