September 22, 2017 1:30 PM -

Due to the recent hurricanes in some of our South destinations, we are experiencing an increased amount of additional baggage among our customers. Although we deeply appreciate this show of support and kindness, please note that extra weight or additional baggage, depending on the space available, may be refused for operational reasons.
We thank you for your understanding.

Pre-flight checklist
  1. Check in 3 hours prior to flight departure.

You will be required to provide complete information regarding the person who will meet the child at the destination (full name, complete street address, area code and phone number).

  2. A special tag will be attached to your child’s checked luggage to enable easy identification on arrival. We’ll also equip your child with a pouch (containing their travel documents – passport, tickets, customs forms, etc.) to wear around their neck and identify them as an unaccompanied minor.

  3. The parent or guardian accompanying the child to the airport must remain at the airport until the flight is airborne as confirmed by an Air Transat agent.
Service provided beyond the boarding gate

Once in our care, Air Transat personnel watch over your child at all times. Your child will be boarded in priority ahead of regular boarding and will be introduced to our Flight Director, who will escort them to their seat, introduce them to the flight attendant in their section and explain the safety procedures. Cabin crew will pay special attention to your child during the whole flight, making sure they are comfortable and safe.

Arrival checklist
  1. Air Transat ground staff will meet your child at the door of the aircraft and accompany them through any formalities.

  2. Once they have cleared the arrivals area, the Air Transat representative will verify the identity and photo ID of the person who has come to meet your child using the information recorded on the form at departure. If the information does not match, Air Transat will contact the parent/guardian who accompanied your child to the airport at point of origin.

  3. If no one is present to greet your child at the destination, local authorities will be contacted. All subsequent costs incurred (meals, accommodations, etc.) will be subject to reimbursement by the parent or guardian.
