Discover Samaná

  • The port and market

Travellers can find a pretty little port in Samaná Bay. Here, tourists can also find a very colourful public market, perfect for getting to know the local artisans.

  • Boats and whales

Samaná is renowned for its humpback whale watching. From January to March, tourists can choose from several excursions to these magnificent mammals’ mating grounds.

  • Beach or catamaran?

Leisure lovers opt for a relaxing day at the hotel, or aboard a luxurious catamaran. They explore the depths diving, or just floating gently along the sea.

  • Jeep safari

A jeep safari in Samaná is the perfect way to explore the countryside and to visit typical island homes. The most adventurous travel through the tropical forest onboard a quad to get to Rincon Beach, a magnificent and intimate little slice of paradise.
  • Restaurants and patios

At mealtime, tourists are spoiled for choices of where to eat in the heart of Samaná: patios with sea views, cafés and lovely restaurants. Different kinds of dishes are prepared to please any palate.
  • Dancing and clubs

In the evening, tourists leave their hotels to stroll through Avenida La Marina or to enjoy a drink on one of the inviting patios. The avenue that runs along the Malecon de Samaná becomes animated and festive at the end of the day, making it hard to resist the urge to dance the bachata!

Good to know

Presence of Sargassum in Mexico and the Caribbean
Depending on the weather conditions, winds and tides may bring large quantities of Sargassum to shore. Since seaweed moves with the ocean currents, quantities may vary by place and day. Transat would like to inform its clients that this natural phenomenon beyond its control affects several parts of Mexico and the Caribbean. Although the presence of this brown seaweed is greater than usual, our hotel partners are making every effort to clean the beaches when necessary.
