We wish to reassure our passengers that Air Transat flights are not affected by the Minister’s announcement as Air Transat does not operate the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

Cuban cuisine is a blend of Taino, Spanish, African and Caribbean cuisine, and is mainly composed of pork, rice, beans and spices. Try the typical ropa vieja with rice or even yuca frita. Also part of the Cuban heritage are its famous hand-rolled cigars. A visit to one of the factories will show you the detail with which each cigar is made. And last, but not least, why not bring back a bottle of some local rum? It’s some of the best in the Caribbean!

  • Currency

    The Cuban convertible peso (CUC) is the official currency that travellers use while visiting Cuba. CUC's can only be exchanged within the country—at an airport or at a kiosk conveniently located in most hotels and resorts.

    Credit cards and travellers cheques issued by American Banks and their affiliates are not accepted in Cuba (E.G: Amex, Citibank, MNBA, AAA, CAA) and pre-paid Canadian or American Credit Cards.

    Official Language

    Cuban Spanish is Cuba's official language, which is associated with Caribbean Spanish. Haitian Creole is the second most popular language in Cuba.

    Things to remember

    For security reasons: Satellite, GPS & Walkie-Takies are prohibited in Cuba. These devices will be confiscated by Cuban Customs upon arrival. For more information, visit www.aduana.gob.cuWill open in a separate browser window .

  • Entry/exit requirements

    To get information regarding passports and all necessary visas, please visit the country travel advice and advisories of the Government of Canada's travel website.

    Important
    - Tourist Card will be given on board the aircraft
    - If your Tourist card shows scratches or corrections, or if you lose your card, you will have to pay $16 CAD (subject to change) in order to get a new card.
    - You must complete both parts of your Tourist Card
    Note: in the Cuba address field please enter the name of the hotel you will be staying.
