Although we deeply appreciate this show of support and kindness, please note that extra weight or additional baggage, depending on the space available, may be refused for operational reasons.

September 22, 2017 3:30 PM - Following the recent hurricane activity in some of our Sun destinations, here is an update on our operations in the affected regions.

Cuba
Air operations have returned to normal in Varadero and Holguín. Hotels in Havana, Cayo Largo, Camagüey, Varadero, and Holguin are now operational. Air service to Cayo Coco and Cayo Santa Maria is suspended until October 31, 2017. In the coming weeks, our teams at destination, in collaboration with our hotelier partners, will be providing full details on when hotels may reopen.
 
Dominican Republic
Hurricane Maria has not done any structural damage to the hotels marketed by Transat. Our partners along with local authorities are currently conducting clean-up operations in preparation for resumption of tourism operations. All airports are open. Our flights to Punta Cana and Puerto Plata will resume on September 24 and 29 respectively. Service to Samana, meanwhile, will resume on October 1.

Saint-Martin
Our scheduled flights are expected to begin in late December 2017. In the coming weeks, our teams at destination, in collaboration with our hotelier partners, will be providing full details on when hotels may reopen. 

Puerto Rico
Our scheduled flights are expected to begin in late December 2017. In the coming weeks, our teams at destination, in collaboration with our hotelier partners, will be providing full details on when hotels may reopen.  Our cruise line partners are currently reviewing their Winter 2017–18 itineraries and securing new ports of call.

Cruise packages
We are planning some changes to our Eastern Caribbean and Southern Caribbean cruise itineraries to ensure your comfort and safety and provide the best possible vacation experience. There will be no changes to embarkation/debarkation dates, however. Our cruise line partners are currently reviewing their Winter 2017–18 itineraries and securing new ports of call. We expect to announce these revisions within the next weeks.

There are no revisions for passengers travelling on Western Caribbean itineraries.
 

Required advance passenger information

In an effort to increase security in the area of international air travel, many countries have instituted an Advance Passenger Information System (APIS/API) that affects most international flights.

APIS/API

APIS is an automated data collection system capable of performing queries on air passengers prior to their arrival into an applicable country.

U.S. flights: In addition to information required for most international flights, you need to provide:

  • Complete street address (including zip code) where you will be staying while in the U.S.
  • If you are connecting to a cruise ship: the name of the vessel and the city/state of point of embarkation

How is the passenger data collected?

The data is collected by the air carrier during the check-in process and submitted electronically to Customs prior to the passenger's arrival at their destination.

When is the passenger information provided to Customs?

Air carriers must submit passenger information within fifteen minutes after the aircraft departs.
