With more than 80 kilometres of uninterrupted beach, Fort Myers rivals any Florida coastal city. Travelling with kids? Go seashell hunting on Sanibel Island, compete in the sandcastle-building championships at Fort Myers Beach or discover the mangroves of Pine Island. Then stop at the iconic Estero Island pier for that sunset selfie.
Florida’s true nature
There’s so much to see in Fort Myers. From friendly and quirky manatees at Manatee Park to alligators, turtles and otters at the wetlands of Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve. Or drive about two hours to the famous Everglades National Park, one of America’s great natural wonders, to try and catch a glimpse of the endangered Florida panther.
Cultural heritage
Once a vacation hot spot for Americans fleeing the New England winters, Fort Myers was the second home of many famous figures. World-renowned inventors Thomas Edison and Henry Ford were two of them.
