Travel Basecamp: Skydiving in Cuba

Travel Basecamp By Travel Basecamp

Rodrigo is determined to start the Basecampers’ Cuba expedition with a bang. And what better way to do that than by jumping out of a canary yellow lightweight prop plane! So with professional skydivers literally strapped to their backs, Basecampers Sarah, Rodrigo and Troy take off over the crystal blue waters that surround the island.

As the plane climbs skyward so does their fear: particularly with Troy as Sarah and Rodrigo are a bit calmer about accepting that their fates rest in the hands of their instructors. But when the door of the plane finally opens and each one of them free falls at 220 km per hour, whatever fear they have takes flight and they experience the high thrill of a lifetime.

Predictably all parachutes deploy and the Basecampers, feeling as free as birds, descend softly and successfully land on the beach where Troy declares that on that day he feels more alive than ever before.

Take the leap alongside the Basecampers as they sky dive over paradise:

And if jumping out of an airplane is not exactly your style, remember Varadero presents lots of great activities on solid ground like golf, horseback riding, museums and a world-class beach. Visit this website for more information.
