Basecampers Troy, Rodrigo and Sarah meet up with Christina, a Canadian working in Cuba who has brought bike polo to the streets of Havana. It’s a perfect urban sport, requiring only a bike, mallet, ball and a place to play and it dovetails perfectly with the Cuban effort to get people back on bikes for health and environmental reasons.
Feeling confident they can dominate him at any sport, Sarah and Rodrigo taunt Troy who nonetheless goes forward with brazen confidence and surprises everyone by being the only Basecamper to score, not just once but over and over again. Pleased with his newfound natural talent and inspired by Christina’s devotion to the local kids whose lives she has touched with the sport, Troy pledges to do the same when he returns to Canada.
