Travel Basecamp: Surfing in El Palmar Off the Coast of Panama

Travel Basecamp By Travel Basecamp

Learning the art of surfing takes Basecampers Addy, Sarah and Rodrigo beyond the challenge of riding the magnificent waves of Panama’s Pacific Coast to a deeper awareness of the region’s ancient heritage and a greater connection to the power of nature.

Marc, a laid-back Mexican native who, following his spiritual path, was drawn to the pristine beach by flocks of migrating birds, greets our Basecampers at the Panama Surf School. In addition to introducing them to the fundamentals, Marc emphasises the importance of observing the moods and living spirit of the ocean where they step up to ride the waves the very first time out!

The Waves of El Palmar

Check out the video below to see how our Basecampers learned to hang ten in less than a day.

And if you’re hungry or need a drink after your first encounter with the waves, make it a point to visit any one of the many local restaurants and hotels that provide visitors with everything from local cuisine to casual and fine dining. Or why not take in a round of golf at the nearby Coronado Golf & Beach Resort right up the coast!
