Mercado de Motores
Alanna and Tamy rummage through Madrid for some charming vintage finds and hit the motherlode at Madrid’s coolest flea market, Mercado de Motores. Squeezed inside a train museum, this once-a-month treasure trove of second-hand clothes, retro furniture and vinyl records is where Tamy meets her favourite hat designer and Alanna finds the perfect pair of sunglasses.
Their quest for the one of a kind leads our guides to Malababa in the Justicia district, an elegant boutique whose wooden shelves are populated with bewitching dyed-leather bags and jewellery. Founder Ana Carrasco Sanchez reveals how her jewellery inspires her bags and how her bags then return the favour in moulding her jewellery. She also spills another secret: she has crafted bags for Queen Letizia of Spain!
The last stop on this vintage trail is fashion boutique Kinda Kinks in Malasaña, whose rad collection does more than make you feel hipper than when you
walked in—it tells stories of old-school music and bands we loved. Collected during trips to the United States, England, Germany, France and the Netherlands, clothes woven with music tales from around the world converge in this one store, which actually borrows its name from 1960’s British rock band The Kinks!
La Cocina de San Antón
Alanna and Tamy hit up the lively rooftop bar La Cocina de San Antón, where they recount their favourite moments in Madrid and toast to the perfect way to cap off their evening—and their stay in the sizzling and oh-so-trendy Spanish capital.
