Style Jaunt: Discovering Mexican Craftsmanship in Puerto Vallarta

Style Jaunt By Style Jaunt

The journey in Mexico starts at the Now Amber Puerto Vallarta Resort and Spa for fashion bloggers Camille DG and Gracie Carroll. They explore the Puerto Vallarta city centre and make a stop at the Huaracheria Fabiola for a shoe design session. The bloggers then make their way to a local art gallery and boutique called Mannmade Mexico, a store that works with Mexican artisans who create unique modern objects with a touch of traditional Mexican. After spending the day discovering Mexican craftsmanship, they head for drinks at the outdoor restaurant & jazz club El Patio de Mi Casa. It’s just down the street and it is one of the best restaurants in Puerto Vallarta off the tourists’ radar.

Watch the first episode of the series to discover Mexican Craftsmanship:

Huaracheria Fabiola

In the first episode of Style Jaunt in Puerto Vallarta, Camille and Gracie begin their adventure on the right foot at Huaracheria Fabiola, with a shoe design session led by likeable co-owner and craftsman Marco Antonio. This charming downtown boutique is a family business specialized in the production of typical Mexican leather sandals known as huaraches. Our bloggers get the chance to design their own pair, made to fit the exact measurements of their feet! And since these sandals are ready in just a few days, they can be picked up before returning home.

Mannmade Mexico

Mannmade Mexico, boutique and gallery of Puerto VallartaOur fashionistas then take us to a local gallery-boutique called Mannmade Mexico, where they meet the very bubbly and inspiring owner, Louise Mann. This talented textile designer lived in California for more than 20 years, but was actually born and raised in Quebec! The artist now spends half the year in Puerto Vallarta working with Mexican artisans, using different skills like Aztec pottery making and glass blowing to create unique, modern objects with a touch of traditional Mexican art. If you’re looking to enhance your decor with beautiful home accents, then this is the place to shop!

El Patio de mi casa

Having a drink at El Patio de mi Casa, Puerto allartaAfter sharing her passion for shopping and the work of Mexican artisans with our bloggers, Mann takes them for drinks at El patio de mi casa, a wonderful restaurant-terrace and jazz club located just steps from her gallery. This quaint and welcoming place almost unknown to tourists is great for trying one of the mixologist’s signature cocktails, as well as Mexican and Mediterranean cuisine prepared with tasty local products. A fabulous end to this first busy day in Puerto Vallarta!
