Parc de la Chute-Montmorency

Head to the historic Parc de la Chute-Montmorency, just 15 minutes from Old Quebec, and watch the cascading waters of the 83-metre-high Montmorency Falls splash into the St. Lawrence River.

Ride the cable car up the cliff to Manoir Montmorency and visit its interpretation centre, gift shop and restaurant. If you’re looking for an adrenalin rush, take one of the three via ferrata routes along the face of the cliff or even zip-line across the cove!

Feel the power of the waterfall beneath your feet with a walk on the suspended bridge. Ready to climb down? Take the 487-step panoramic staircase all the way the foot of the falls. Watch your step!

Don't miss the new walkway that crosses over the river to an area where you can sit and admire the cascading water. A wonderful lookout point!

Île d'Orléans

Drive across a bridge to Île d'Orléans, the birthplace of New France and just 15 minutes from downtown Quebec City. Visit Vignoble Sainte-Pétronille and sample some fine wine, then check out Chocolaterie de l’Île d’Orléans to savour quality confections.

Drive through Saint-Laurent for scenic views of colonial homes, churches and the island’s renowned strawberry fields. Stop by Confiturerie Tigidou in Saint-Jean to taste some gourmet jams, and later admire the islands of the archipelago from an observation tower in Saint-François. Travel back in time with a visit to a 17th-century home, Maison Drouin, in Sainte-Famille. Then step into Espace Félix-Leclerc, an interpretation centre in Saint-Pierre built in memory of the local singer and poet.

Ice Hotel

Winter in Quebec City is hard to beat! Located close by, the Ice Hotel—built with 2,300 blocks of ice and nearly 15,000 tons of snow—offers comfortable overnight stays and a complete change of scenery. Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier

The Jacques-Cartier River will delight visitors with magnificent scenery as they paddleboard, canoe or kayak along its pristine waters. Several excursions are available to discover Quebec's natural beauty. On the agenda: one of the most spectacular glacial valleys in the province, formed by mountains as far as the eye can see and a river that goes from calm to turbulent. The hiking trails are dotted with lookout points offering breathtaking views as well.

In summer, camping is a great way to extend your stay and maximize your time in the park. In winter, the area provides magical Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and tubing experiences. A breath of fresh air in the great outdoors, just 30 minutes from Quebec City!

Charlevoix

The Charlevoix area is a nature lover's paradise that will certainly cater to outdoor enthusiasts. Tadoussac

Hoping to see marine animals? Take your family to Tadoussac, a three-hour drive from Quebec City, for a memorable whale-watching adventure. Observe these giant mammals from a tour boat or from several onshore locations, it’s up to you.

Want to see more? Set out to Parc national du Fjord-du-Saguenay or the Saguenay–St. Lawrence Marine Park for outdoor activities. Take a guided ATV excursion and observe beavers in their habitat. Plus, learn to trace animal tracks in the forest and then sit around a campfire with a guide recounting native legends. During winter, explore Parc national du Fjord-du-Saguenay’s white landscape by foot, cross-country skis or snowshoes.
