    Air Transat invites you to discover Los Cabos, famous for its golden-sand beaches, desert landscapes, whale-watching adventures, vibrant nightlife, and the iconic El Arco rock arch rising from the ocean. Air Transat will operate seasonal direct flights from Montreal to San José del Cabo International Airport every Thursday during the winter months. Located in Baja California Sur on Mexico’s Pacific coast, Los Cabos is Air Transat’s newest destination in Mexico.

    Currency

    The Mexican peso (MNX) is this country’s official currency. However, it is recommended to carry American dollars while in Mexico as it is more easily exchanged than Canadian dollars.

    Official Language

    The official language of Mexico is Spanish and is spoken by nearly all Mexicans. Nonetheless, there are also more than 60 native languages, including Nahuatl and Mayan.

    A tourist card (official entry immigration form) will be distributed onboard by the flight crew (one card per family) with the exception of flights to Cancún. Passengers must ensure they fill in the form with the correct information, as it appears on their passport.

    New anti-smoking legislation in Mexico

    Since January 2023, smoking is strictly prohibited in public places in Mexico. This law applies to beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. It is also illegal to bring electronic cigarettes or vaping devices and their solutions into Mexico. Violators may be subject to fines or detention.
