Due to the recent hurricanes in some of our South destinations, we are experiencing an increased amount of additional baggage among our customers. Although we deeply appreciate this show of support and kindness, please note that extra weight or additional baggage, depending on the space available, may be refused for operational reasons.

Travel advisory

Destinations operational update – October 2, 2017October 02, 2017 1:00 PM

Following the recent hurricane activity in some of our Sun destinations, here is an update on our operations in the affected regions.

Cuba
Transat is pleased to announce that it has resumed its normal airline operations to Varadero and Holguin, Cuba. In addition, the hotels in Havana, Cayo Largo, Camagüey, Varadero and Holguin are fully operational; and the white-sand beaches are bigger and lovelier than ever!

To ensure that its clients have the best vacation possible and that all the touristic activities and attractions meet its quality standards, Transat will resume its operations to Santa Clara (SNU) on November 11 and to Cayo Coco on November 15. Our teams at destination and our hotel partners are working together to reopen the hotels in these two regions.

Dominican Republic
Hurricane Maria has not done any structural damage to the hotels marketed by Transat. All airports are open. Our flights to Punta Cana, Puerto Plata and Samana are operating normally.

Saint-Martin
Our scheduled flights are expected to begin in late December 2017. In the coming weeks, our teams at destination, in collaboration with our hotelier partners, will be providing full details on when hotels may reopen. 

Puerto Rico
Our scheduled flights are expected to begin in late December 2017. In the coming weeks, our teams at destination, in collaboration with our hotelier partners, will be providing full details on when hotels may reopen.  Our cruise line partners are currently reviewing their Winter 2017–18 itineraries and securing new ports of call.

Cruise packages
We are planning some changes to our Eastern Caribbean and Southern Caribbean cruise itineraries to ensure your comfort and safety and provide the best possible vacation experience. There will be no changes to embarkation/debarkation dates, however. Our cruise line partners are currently reviewing their Winter 2017–18 itineraries and securing new ports of call. We expect to announce these revisions within the next weeks.

There are no revisions for passengers travelling on Western Caribbean itineraries.
 

History

For safety reasons on all flights, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices are strictly forbidden. Such devices may not be transported at all, including in checked, carry on baggage or on one’s person.

Entry requirements for Canada have changed. Find out if they apply to you.

In addition to your valid passport, you will also need:

  • a valid Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)*, or;
  • a valid visa, or;
  • a valid Permanent Resident Card (PRC)

*Holders of a valid Canadian passport, Canadian Permanent Resident Card (PRC) or Canadian visa, as well as U.S. citizens, are ineligible for an eTA and must present their original documents for travel.
